Fire suppression systems are used to extinguish, control, or in some cases, entirely prevent fires from spreading or occurring. Fire suppression systems have an incredibly large variety of applications, and as such, there are many different types of suppression systems for different applications being used today. Of these, there are some that are still in use but are no longer legal to manufacture and produce.[1]
Suppression systems[edit]Fire suppression systems are governed by the codes under the National Fire Protection Association, also known as the NFPA. This organization writes codes, regulations, and recommendations on the proper installation and maintenance of these fire suppression systems. Likewise, the NFPA also lists criteria that must be met for the requirements of certain types of fire suppression systems.[2]

The Most Common Clean Agent Gases used for Gas Flooding Fire Suppression System are FM - 200 (HFC227ea), NAF S125 and Novec 1230. The storage of these Gases are comparatively at less pressure and so required less hardware i.e. (Agent Storage Cylinders) therefore Installation of these systems require comparatively less space to accommodate the clean Agent Stored Cylinders.

Panel Gas Suppression Systems are specialized fire suppression systems designed to protect sensitive equipment, like electrical panels, server racks, control panels, and other critical infrastructure, from fire damage. These systems use various types of gas agents to suppress fires quickly and effectively while causing minimal disruption or damage to the protected equipment.
How Panel Gas Suppression Systems Work:Fire Detection:
Fire detection devices, such as heat sensors, smoke detectors, or flame detectors, continuously monitor the temperature or presence of smoke in the protected area. When the sensors detect an abnormal rise in temperature, smoke, or flames, they send a signal to the control panel.
Activation of Gas Release:
Once the system detects a fire, it automatically activates the release of a fire suppression agent (usually a clean, non-toxic gas) into the protected area. The agent works to suppress the fire by reducing the oxygen level, chemically interrupting the combustion process, or cooling the environment.
Suppression of the Fire:
The release of gas rapidly suppresses the fire, cooling the area and preventing further damage to the equipment. The gases are typically non-conductive and leave no residue behind, making them ideal for sensitive electronic or electrical systems like server rooms, data centers, or control panels.
Post-Suppression:
After activation, some systems are designed to alert personnel and provide information about the fire suppression event, prompting inspection and recharging of the system.
FM-200 (HFC-227ea):
FM-200 is one of the most commonly used clean agents for fire suppression. It is a colorless, odorless, and non-toxic gas that suppresses fire by absorbing heat and interrupting the chemical reaction of combustion.
Advantages: FM-200 is safe for occupied spaces, does not leave any residue, and has a low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
Applications: It is used in data centers, control panels, telecommunication rooms, server rooms, and other sensitive electrical systems.
Novec 1230:
Novec 1230 is another popular clean agent fire suppressant. It works by heat absorption and chemical disruption of the combustion process. It is known for its low environmental impact, as it has a zero ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential.
Advantages: Novec 1230 is non-toxic, safe for use in occupied spaces, and leaves no residue. It is also more environmentally friendly compared to other agents like CO2 or traditional Halon systems.
Applications: Novec 1230 is used in computer rooms, server racks, telecommunication facilities, control panels, and electrical equipment.
Applications: It is typically used in areas where human presence is rare or controlled, such as electrical rooms, data centers, and industrial applications.

A gas extinguishing system is a fire extinguishing system that extinguishes fire with the help of a gaseous extinguishing agent either through oxygen displacement (reduction of oxygen content) or physical effects (heat extraction). In contrast to a sprinkler system, a gas extinguishing system is designed to extinguish and not only suppress fire.
Gas extinguishing systems are used when water, foam or powder extinguishing systems are not effective or if extinguishing with the above-mentioned extinguishing agents could cause significant damage. Typical areas of use include all types of electrical switch rooms, IT and server rooms.
Gas extinguishing systems are the "cleanest" extinguishing systems. Extinguishing gases have no influence on conventional electrical systems such as servers, etc. A range of different extinguishing gases can be used for the extinguishing system. The specific properties of the different extinguishing gases also define their area of use. FET has already designed, hydraulically calculated and constructed a large number of gas extinguishing systems. FET has developed in-depth expertise through continuous employee training.
