Special attention should therefore be paid for their protection.

The traditional System like “High Velocity Water Spray System / Co2 Gas Flooding System” provides external protection of the transformers and they come into operation once the Fire got initiated around the transformer for the reason whatsoever or in case transformer already got exploded. Whereas “Nitrogen Injection Explosion prevention & Fire Protection System” is an internal protection of the transformer as it prevents the Transformer from its explosion which generally occurs due to over heating / overloading / winding Short-circuiting or for any earth fault etc.,

Please note that this system does not protect the transformer from its external Fire, since Nitrogen is injected inside the body of the transformer, Therefore “Nitrogen Injection Explosion prevention System” is not an alternative for HVWS / Co2 Flooding System but its Installation is recommended in addition to HVWS / Co2 Flooding System.

Wet suppression systems are not applicable in cold countries like Antarctica, Canada, Greenland, etc due to the freezing of pipes. In those countries, dry pipe systems are implemented. These systems use pressurized air or nitrogen to fill the pipes.

In case of fire, the sprinklers will break and due to this air escapes through the pipe and the dry pipe valve opens. At this stage, water starts flowing through the open pipes to suppress the fire. Dry pipe installations are designed in unheated warehouses and attics.NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and NFPA 13D cover sprinkler installation procedures in colder areas.

The dry pipe system uses an air compressor to fill the system with air. If the pipes are leaking the air compressor should run and due to this moisture content increases. The formation of ice indicates air leaks. It needs a proper investigation to find the leak source and to repair it further. NFPA 13 requires the valves and piping to be kept at 40-degree Fahrenheit or above. The heat source of the valve room should be permanently installed. This installation of piping, valves, and accessories require highly trained engineers, technicians, and supervisors. The hands-on experience was provided on most modern technologies.

This type of fire extinguishing system consists of high-pressure cylinders or low-pressure tanks containing carbon dioxide (CO2) agent under pressure, connected to fixed piping and nozzles. The systems are used for total flooding of a volume or for local application.
• Carbon dioxide is a colourless, odourless, nonconductive gas that extinguishes fires by smothering. Since carbon dioxide is electrically nonconductive, it is frequently used for protection of electrical equipment. Because it is a gaseous agent, it is further suitable for fires in electrical and electronic equipment, as well as flammable liquids.
• Where the hazard being protected is enclosed in a room, total flooding systems are provided. Where there is no enclosing room for the hazard, local application systems are used.
• This system can also be incorporated with Smoke Detector.
